Friend or Foe? (OPEN)

It was a beautiful summer day. the sun was hi8gh in the sky, shooting heat and light onto the planet below. It was humid, but silent. Sammy stood at the edge of a large expanse of sand. It was large and dry, sand stretching as far as the eye could see, though it was now really THAT big, and you could not see that far, since sand dunes where spread across the area, block your view. Sammy herself was in the tall grass at the edge, the breeze whispering in her ear, and the grass rustling as her feet. The smell of flowers hung in the air.

Cradled in her arms she held a small Ralts, and Pokémon she had named Dan. He was of average size and shape, with no clear marks that made him different. At her feet was a Piplup name River. Sammy's starter Pokémon. Sammy gazed about, looking for any Pokémon. Not to catch mind you, but to play with. She had very little interest in catching Pokémon unless she had asked and they said yes. After all, they would have to live with her until they were released, so it should be their chose.

Stepping forward slowly, Sammy walked out among the sand dunes, the tall grass slowly disappearing from around her feet. Up the first sand dune she slowly climb, to see what was beyond, and if any Pokémon where in sight. if not, her Pokemon could just play in the sand until one appeared. They had not had time to just play in a few days, so it was about time.

Piper was wandering, as she did often. The tell grass swirled around her waist, threatening to tangle around her ankles and trip her, but Piper didn’t need grass to fall down. She did that often enough by herself. She took a deep breath. She didn’t miss the city at all, with all of its loud noises and sharp polluted air. Out here, everything was beautiful in that natural way. She tucked a stray lock of cobalt hair behind her ear, her blue eyes scanning the horizon. Coal was snuffling at her feet, apparently not interested in the scenery.

Piper saw a human shaped silhouette standing on a sand dune. She walked closer, carefully flattening down the twisting grass that curled around her shins. As she grew nearer, she dimly recognized the figure. She hadn’t seen her in years! It was her best friend, the one and only Sammy. “Hey!” Piper called, “Sammy!” She raced the rest of the way to where the grass turned into sand. Just before the menacing grass was gone, Piper managed to get an ankle tangled. She fell flat on her face. Coal stuck her nose close. Piper got to her feet, laughing.

Sammy was distracted by a sound from the grass behind her. Turning around, she spotted Jess, and a smile lit her face. It was Piper, a girl that she had only seen once, though she was her closest friend. Jess called her name and Sammy was about to reply, when she went flying. She tripped. Worried, Sammy ran forward and stopped in front of her, sighing in relive as Piper looked up laughing, Coal's nose in her face. "Hi Piper! How are you?" Sammy asked, helping her up. Her smiled was wide showing all of her teeth. her hair blew in a slight wind.

Piper dusted her hands off on her jeans. “Hey Sammy,” She smiled. Now here was her best friend. The girl she met when she was little, and had only seen her that day. Piper was grinning like a fool at her friend when Coal started making little noises. She looked down at her little friend. “Oh, Sammy, you haven’t met Coal. Sammy, Coal, Coal, Sammy,” Piper introduced the two. “She’s a friend Coal,” Piper smiled. “So how are you, Sam?” She brushed a stray piece of her black hair behind her ear, in the way she always did.

"Hi Piper" Sammy smiled. She had not seen her best friend in so long. Though, when she thought about it, it was slightly funny, her and Piper being best friends when they had only seen each other once before, though, in truth, they were very alike, and seemed to attract each other like magnets. She looked down at Coal, who she had not met before. When Piper introduced her, Sammy smiled and knelt down. "Hi Coal" She smiled as the Pokémon then rubbed against her. She seemed to like her. Still speaking to Coal, she said "This is River, and this is Dan" When she said Rivers name she took one arm off of Dan and pointed to River, who had just caught up to her, and then held out Dan, who ducked his head shyly. Straightening, she grinned widely at Piper "I wonderful. You?"
