Even for someone that liked the heat, this place was slightly ridiculous. Whatever had possessed her to come here right after she got her first Pokemon was makine Makie want to kick herself for it. Her Squirtle, Taiko, was walking along side her grumpily. He didn't much care for the heat at all, in fact, he'd rather be asleep. All his new trainer had done since they had been together was make him walk and then they took naps, he liked the napping part at least. Suddenly she swooped down and picked him up, his tiny feet had been starting to hurt anyways.
"There, isn't that better Taiko?"
Note: I'd love a Rattata please?

The sun beat down on the ground. It hadn't always been this way, but droughts in this area has turned the once soft, cool grass into clay and soft sand now rushed over it, swirling around everything when the winds hit. This was especially hard on a small purple mouse pokemon. The rattatta coughed as he dug in the ground looking for anything to eat. He usually could find roots or small insects if he dug deep enough. If he was lucky enough he could find some seeds too, his favorite.
But all at once he stopped, hearing the voice of a human. Humans meant food! The wild Rattatta scampered along the ground, being sure to hide behind every rock so he wasn't spotted. He saw a girl walking, holding a squirtle. His eyes drifted to her backpack and he followed. This was a rare chance. Humans rarely made it this far into the drylands, so he had to make the best of it.

Makie wiped her brow of a little bit of the sweat that was starting to run down her face. Taiko was a water type but since he was such a low level, he didn't know any water type moves. She really should have waited for the Drylands, until after Taiko learned how to use something that would cool the pair off so they wouldn't have to use their resources. It was time for a break though, if not then they might actually pass out from the heat. A semi-shady area next to a dead tree looked like a prime location to take a break.
"Come on Taiko, its time for a break... Otherwise we'll fall into a dead faint."
Taiko nodded in agreement. Even though he didn't really respect this breeder yet, she had some pretty good ideas about what they needed to do. They sat together, Taiko on Makie's lap and she pulled out water bottles for the two of them. They drank happily from their respective bottles.

The rattatta watched as the duo collapsed on the ground, water bottles in hand. He scampered about, nearly hopping with excitement, until he was in the shade, only five feet from the boy's bag. He went more slowly this time and carefully tread his paws so that he didn't drag anything. The rattatta was now only a foot from the bag. He smelled something but didn't know what it was. I'll find out. The rodent poked the bag and something fell out. He jumped, cracking a stick as he did so.

Its enough to say that Makie didn't even notice the fact that something was getting into her bag, much less it being the Pokemon she was out here to catch. She jumped a little when she heard a stick snap to her left, and spilt a bit of water on Taiko's head in the process. He looked up grumpily, even though he was secretly happy to have the cool liquid running down his head. Water Pokemon were not meant for the heat, not without knowing some sort of water move that is. He looked at the intruder and then back to his trainer. This would be interesting to see how she handled their first wild Pokemon encounter.
She took out the Pokedex and it beeped gently as it scanned the Rattata. She needed all the information she could get about Pokemon if she was going to become the best breeder in the world.
'Hello there little guy, you hot out here too?"

The mouse pokemon flinched as the human noticed it. It went to scamper off but froze. This was a once in a lifetime track. Maybe, with enough perseverence it could win over the squirtle. It didn't seem to the rattatta that the turtle pokemon was very strong anyhow. It stuck to it's ground, still smelling the food and smelling the water as well. This was too good to be true. Maybe if he won he could steal both? It let out a small grown and took an attacking position. It would get what it wanted one way or another.

Makie sighed as the little purple Pokemon geared up for battle. She had been hoping to just get s friendly team together but if the little guy really wanted to fight then there was nothing she could do to stop him, after all, that was what Taiko was for after all. She could just battle the Rattata then catch him as well. Then he could have all the food and water he would ever want with her. It seemed like that was what he was after anyways when he had gone after her pack.
"Okay Taiko, this little guy wants a battle then we'll give it to him! Use Tackle attack!"
Unfortunatly, Taiko was to tired to argue with his trainer about what attack should be used and he stood up in compliance. He wasn't normally this eager to obey but if it got them out of this place then all the better for them.

The mouse pokemon flicked it's whiskers and waited for the turtle pokemon to attack. It didn't want to waste any energy on the pokemon but it was going to get the food. It tried to circle aroung the pokemon, it's tiny paws scraping against soft sand and clogged clay. It's drooping tail left trails in the windblown golden sand and it was now right in front of the turtle. It waited. Sensing the pokemon was tired the purple mouse readied itself for victory, for it had always been a bit overconfident.

It didn't matter how tired he was. Taiko wasn't going to lose to this stupid purple rat. He was better than that. No matter what all the other Pokemon thought, he was going to be the absolute best and that was it. He swiveled his body around quickly and brought his full body into the tackle attack, slamming into the Rattata with an immense amount of force. Makie was suprised at the amount of power her starter was able to put into the attack with how hot it was out here. She really was a little on the suprised side on how well they were doing. Seeing that the attack had hit and the Rattata had already looked a little on the weak side she threw her first Pokeball ever.
"Go Pokeball, Lets catch this Rattata!"

OOC: You can't just attack and say the other way attacked. You need to give the other a chance to defend itself. Though here it will be okay because that's what was going to happen anyways The purple mouse pokemon was pushed to the side as the turtle pokemon bashed against him. He screeched as his small body hit the sand, but jumped to it's feet. Hard, quick breaths escaped it and it's chest heaved up and down with every one. It saw the red and white ball and instinctively went to head butt it, but accidentally made itself in the perfect position to get caught. It was in a dark place a few seconds later though some light shown through. Quickly it fell into a deep slumber, giving up it's sore fight. Well, at least i'll get some food.

A squeal of joy and Makie ran over to pick up the Pokeball of her new Pokemon. This was just absolutely amazing! She finally caught a Pokemon all on her own. Taiko was mildly impressed as well. So she was capable of throwing the Pokeballs at them at least. Of course that still left him to do all of the actual hard work but at least she was learning a little bit. He patted her on the leg gently and dumped the rest of the water on his head, it was time for them to get out of this god forsaken place already.
"Come on Taiko, we probably need to get to a Pokemon center soon. Lets get everyone all cleaned up and such!"
