Her eyes opened a little later than they should have and a breeze blew through her short blond hair. Where was she now? A pretty field and some grass under a tree... So she had fallen asleep in the middle of the day again? How peculiar. It wasn't like Makie wasn't used to it, she just thought that on a day this important, she would have had enough common sense to wake up and stay awake on her way to the Pokemon lab. She was on her way to get her first Pokemon after all and that was one of the most important things she could ever do in her life. Her goal was to become the top breeder and she would carry that goal until it ran true. Even if her parents didn't aprove of what she wanted to do she was so far away from them now that there was nothing they could really do to stop her. Maybe, just maybe she would find her brother Rikimaru out here somewhere as well. Maybe they could even travel together for a little while, if he wasn't to good to be seen around his little sister that is.
Stretching her arms out wide she let out a loud yawn as she got up from her napping place and made her way down the dusty dirt road again. What kind of Pokemon should she get? Squirtle, Mudkip or maybe a Cyndaquil or a Charmander. There were so many choices after all... Finally she was at the lab door, another tired yawn escaped her mouth as she knocked on the door, then pushed it open without thinking. This place was used to people just walking right in, right?
"Excuse me! I'm here for my starter Pokemon please?"

"Just a moment! I'll be there in a moment!" Someone yelled from behind the door, in between various expensive sound crashes and bangs. Eventually the door slid open, revealing a flustered looking aide wearing a smile that was falser than Splenda. He was coming his long brown hair off of his eyes, and swatting a nearby fly with an important looking piece of rolled up paper. Distracted, he kept looking at the fly, then back at Makie, then back at the fly, as if trying to decide which was more important. Deciding that keeping his job by helping new trainers was probably more important, he turned back to Makie.
"Come in! We're ready for you! Because you have an appointment, right? Do you need one? I can't remember! Come in, come in, come in!" The aide beckoned her inside, disappearing again behind the door. There were a couple more crashes and bangs, and one shrill scream, shortly followed by a lot of screeching and some sizzling noises. Eventually the aide reappeared at the door, impatiently glaring at Makie. "WHY AREN'T YOU INSIDE YET?!" he yelled, panting a little and covering his smoking left sleeve. [/blockquote]

The crashes and bangs that came from the inside of the lab were enough to make the small girl jump a little bit. Maybe she had come at a bad time? A flustered looking lab worker had finally decided to come to the door. So maybe now she could finally get around to getting her Pokemon? She brushed her bangs out of her eyes and walked in, just as the aide was asking why she wasn't in the door yet. He really was rude. She looked down at the smoldering sleeve and then looked to where he had appeared from. So there were fire type Pokemon here as well? Well duh. Had she only been expecting to see water and grass types? What and idiot she was, and she had even been contemplating getting one of the fire starters for her own. Sometimes she was so absent minded it made her wonder.
"I'm here for my starter please? I can't remember if I had an appointment... I feel asleep outside on the way here..."

The aide, who had disappeared yet again, appeared from behind a wall, this time looking a lot more refreshed and calm. In a surprising British, accent, he responded to the confused girl. "Hello, I am the Assistant to the Regional Professor, and my name is Charles. If you are here for your first Pokémon, please follow me past the hatchery and into the incubator. Mind you, it's a bit hot, but your arms shouldn't burn off." At the last sentence he glared a bit at his own left arm, which was still smoldering a bit. He began walking slowly down a hallway towards a large, thick door marked clearly: "Incubator."

Makie shrugged, heat was something she could handle rather well despite her size. She was always falling asleep in warm places and she would have to take care not to fall asleep here. Charles would probably throw her out on sight if she did and then how would she get a Pokemon? She would have to go running back to her parents and tell them that she failed and that she needed to come home. She would be the laughing stock of the entire town, a bunch of people she didn't even know anymore since she had been locked away in her room for so long. Walking into the large room with the heavy door a wave of heat hit her and made her smile. This was her ideal napping room, but she had to stay focused now.
"My name is Makie, I'm not a hundred percent sure what kind of Pokemon I want though... Either a Squirtle, Mudkip, Charmander or Cyndaquil... What do you recomend?"

Before the assistant who calls himself Charles could scarcely walk into the incubator room, another assistant stopped him. He spoke with him breifly before Charles muttered something and walked off in another direction. The new assistant pushed his glasses up and walked over to Makie with a genuine smile on his face. "I'm sorry about that, but Charles needs to go finish his experiment. Your Makie, right? Welcome to the the Lab - You may call me Brandon. Let's see about getting you your first pokemon! Do you know what kind you want?" As he spoke, he lead Makie over to twelve pokeballs, which were sitting on a counter.

Thte sudden change in assistants didn't throw her off at all. Now it was a guy named Brandon and maybe finally she could get her starter Pokemon and get to working on her journey. She had already had time to decide what Pokemon she wanted. The water type Squirtle was the only Pokemon for her,at least in her mind.
"If you have one, I want a Squirtle. Its the perfect type for me!"
She walked forward a little bit, peering at the Pokeballs and wondering which one held her new partner.

Brandon pauses for a moment, before picking up a pokeball. "A squirtle? We do infact have one. But are you sure? I've seen many people rush into their decision. Picking your first pokemon is not a simple task. Plus, this squirtle has a bit of an attitude problem..but if your sure, then he's yours." On that happy note, Brandon handed Makie the pokeball, which had a small blue stamp ontop of it.

Makie nodded. She had a lot of time to think about this while she had been sitting in her room. Squirtle was the only Pokemon that she could ever think about and he was the one Pokemon she knew she would love forever. She had to have him, an attitude problem would just make things a little more interesting. She grabbed the Pokeball gently and pressed the button in the middle of the red and white sphere, realesing her new partner from inside.
"I'm sure he's the one I want, I've dreamed of this day since I was ten."

The assistant nods agan, and pulls out a small notebook and a pen. He makes a few notes in it before lightly tossing it on a desk. "Well then, congragulations Makie. You are now officially a pokemon trainer! There's some beginning supplies for you on the table near the door. I'm afraid I don't have much advice, as I'm origionally from Jhoto and recently transfered to this region. But if you have any questions, feel free to ask them, and I will awnser it to the best of my ability. "

She nodded, leaning down to say hello to her new Pokemon partner. He huffed a little bit and crossed his arms. He didn;t look exact;y happy to be her Pokemon but hopefully that would change soon. She just wanted to be friends after all.
"I don't think I've got any questions, other than exactly what kind of attitude problem this guy has."
She stood up again, blond hair falling out of the beret she had it in. She gathered the items up on the table, putting them in the bag but keeping the Pokedex out to scan her new partner.

"Well, this squirtle has yet to listen to anything we aids have told it. Infact, most of the time it would do the exact opposite. But maybe that's just because we're allways working - perhaps all it needs is a trainer, like yourself." As if to emphasize his point, something in his pocket begins beeping. He pulls out some sort of timer and presses a few buttons on it to make it go quiet.[/i] "Ah, It's about time I check on that Turtwig...he caught a bad case of Pokeflu. So if you have no ther questions, I should be going now."

She nodded and picked up the Squirtle, who fussily pushed her a little bit. She still smiled though and nodded. She didn't have any more questions so it was time to get going on her journey. She needed to start catching more Pokemon so that she could be the top breeder in all the land and show her parents exactly what she could do.
"Thanks for the Pokemon! I hope the Turtwig gets better soon! Maybe I'll come back here after I'm a famous breeder, who knows? Maybe one day my bred Pokemon will be the Pokemon given out at Pokemon labs! Later!"
She practically ran out the door, ready to start her adventure.
