There was a great deal of commotion coming from where the light was originally was. Both Kage and Julius became alert. Without looking down at his companion, Kage spoke to his new friend. "Come on Julius," the new trainer spoke to the Cyndaquil in a concerned tone of voice. Julius nodded, and followed his trainer towards the ruckus.
What Kage saw was a very odd sight. A Meganium, obviously intent on hurting the Ponyta, was attacking the fire pokemon. The trainer narrowed his eyes, trying to understand why a Meganium, of all pokemon, would thrash out at a Ponyta. Maybe there were eggs around, maybe the grass pokemon was commanded to attack the Ponyta by another trainer. Either way, it did not seem right, and Kage's intention was to aid his new acquaintance.
"Julius," commanded Kage in a strong voice, "Help out the Ponyta by using Smokescreen!" The fire mouse pokemon squeaked out its call in understanding. Julius then ran out to the opposing grass pokemon, and jumped upwards. Airborne, the Cyndaquil directed the flames on it's back to emit a black smoke, forcing the Meganium into a semi-blinded state. Julius smiled to himself, seeing how he did as he was told very well. He knew it would earn praises from his trainer.

Noticing the familiar sight of smokescreen in the air, the stud searched the area for any sight of the fire type, to find a Cyndaquil attacked the Meganium. His ears flattened, and with a narrow of his eyes, he attacked with another Flame Wheel, annihilating the Meganium and knocking it out cold. He gave a snort of victory, the male turned to the Cyndaquil, thudding forward calmly while giving a snort of gratitude,"Thanks little guy. That certainly did help." Air blew out of his nostrils, before the smoke cleared to reveal the man from before standing there behind the mouse pokemon. His head lifted back with his chin towards his neck in surprise, did this Cyndaquil belong to him?
He gazed at the man, quiet, before pondering the situation. So obviously, this human had wanted to protect him. Why he wasn't sure. Perhaps he had use for him, and was going to make him his pack-mule or something, or maybe he just didn't want the pokemon to be hurt. He was silent, thoughtful, and still looking masculine while he studied this man closely. He obviously had something up his sleeve but he wasn't sure what, and he wasn't sure whether to trust this human until the human proved to be trustworthy.
With a light snort, he turned to the Cyndaquil once more,"Is that your trainer?"

Julius's back glowed like little embers in embarrassment. The compliment went straight to the little Cyndaquil's heart. He held his arms close together, trying to keep his embarrassing happiness to himself. With a little, yet happy squeak, Julius spoke to the taller fire pokemon. "Oh... That's very nice of you."
His smile remained as the Ponyta looked to be in deep thought. Behind the Cyndaquil, Kage stood motionless, his face a mixture of concern and sorrow. He truly was sorry for how he treated the pokemon earlier, and the trainer only wanted to make it up to the Ponyta. There was nothing else he could do.
When Flare asked Julius his question with a snort, the Cyndaquil replied with a curious, "Oh, you mean Kage?" As he said this, Julius turned back to his trainer with a happy smile, and returned his focus on the Ponyta. Once more, he spoke to the bigger, and obviously stronger, pokemon. "Yeah, he's my trainer. We haven't been together for too long, but I really like him. He kinda looks mean sometimes, but he always is nice to me."
"Hey!," the Cyndaquil exclaimed with a squeak, "I bet he'd be nice to you too if you come with us! My names Julius, whats yours?" The smaller pokemon was obviously getting excited at the idea of having a friend. Of course, behind the Cyndaquil, Kage waited patiently for whatever to happen next.

"I see..." he replied, looking straight into Kage's eyes, as if searching for his soul with his cool black depths, before hearing the Cyndaquil piped up once more. He looked down at him, thinking for a moment. He hadn't exactly been the nicest before, but yet again he also assumed this was a nightmare, so he shouldn't be judging so quickly. But maybe he should be, after all this could happen again, but maybe next time he wouldn't be the only victim. What if it was Julius, and he had to get the brunt of his rampage. But he did say he's always nice to him, did that mean he was not so kind to other humans and pokemon?
The poor stud was thinking more than he ever had, which wasn't a lot, but now he was sure this was a good reason to. He usually wasn't so suspicious or uneasy, but how could he try and be friends with someone who had made such an episode. But by the look in the man's eyes, he meant good, it was there, he could sense it like most Ponytas and Rapidashes could. So, what was he to do now? Would he go...or would he stay? Did he have anything else to do around here? Did he have a purpose in this world besides getting shot down by ladies and then end up alone either way? He couldn't find any... maybe this was his purpose, to come across this human, battle him, then end up being his wing-man. Though Flare never was a wing-man, he would have been the leader of this situation, but he supposed whatever higher being he did bow down to wanted this, then it had to be.
"I supposed I can come along," he finally said after his long, and thoughtful debate, before looking down at Julius and smirking,"But the question is, can he handle me?" His filaments rose up on cue, and he soon turned his gazed looked back to Kage, smirking and raising an eyebrow quickly, as if it say,'You're gonna be living in hell.' He tossed his head quickly, before thudding over to the fellow male, looking down at his belt for in search of what he needed, then increasing the size of the pokeball, pressing the silver button with his teeth, and being engulfed by the stunning red light. The ball wiggled back and forth on the ground, one way then the other, before coming to a halt and returning to its natural state.

The Cyndaquil waited ever so patiently, waiting for a response from the Ponyta. He was practically ecstatic from the possibility of getting a new friend. Granted, Julius was happy enough with his trainer, Kage, as a caring friend, but it would be even better to get a pokemon friend as well. The small fire pokemon was almost jumping up and down from the anticipation from waiting. Once he heard the Ponyta's confirmation, Julius squealed in joy. He began dancing around in a rather sweet and innocent fashion. However, he did catch the last bit that the bigger fire pokemon said. Still happy, and dancing, the Cyndaquil said, "Yay! I get a new friend!.. Wait, what did you say?" However, the Ponyta did not catch his question, as he walked forward towards Kage. While Cyndaquil watched where he was, still happy, Kage was completely confused. First, the Ponyta gave him a look that almost sent chills down his spine. Also, when the pokemon neared him, the trainer was not sure what was about to go down. However, as the Ponyta neared, Kage began to settle his worries on the inside, as the pokemon did not look aggressive in any way. Kage watched as the pokemon took one of his pokeballs and... caught itself. For a moment, the young man simply stared down at the pokeball on the ground. Then, slowly, Kage picked it up and examined it in his hand. He then spoke to the Ponyta, even though it probably could not hear him. "If you're sure you want this, then you are more than welcome to be with Julius and I. So, if you're coming along, then you need a name, instead of 'Ponyta.' Everyone deserves to have a name... and yours is..." "... Flare..." This concludes the ending of this thread.
